Aim -
my aim was to create a sequence story of gaining a horses trust loosely based on my own experiences of taming my own horse. as I started to create this story it slowly changed to have a stronger meaning and better character that people can relate to so instead of just taming a horse its become a story of learning how to gain friendship with both human and animal.
Theme -
friendship and gaining trust - friendship wont just come to you, you have to make an effort to gain a true friendship.
Audience -
young girls aged 7-15 (only really aimed at girl's as through asking people girls like horses more than boys especially in this age range)
Outline of story -
a girl called willow has no friends and thinks that if she gets a horse that will be her friend so she don't need people, but then she gets a horse its not what she thought its a wild uncontrollable horse far from being the perfect friend that she wanted. her mum helps her learn how to gain the horses trust and make friends with it and at the same time she learns how to make a friends at college and over come the problems that she faces there.
What I have learnt from this project -
-developed my confidence in drawing horses in various positions and angles
-got better at drawing people
-got better at drawing and understanding backgrounds
-got better at colour
-developed my storyboarding and panelling skills
-still need to practice hands and feet
-proportions do vary slightly not as bad as they used to though
-colour could still do with more practice as it takes me a while to pick the colours and develop the tonal range
- need to get better at planning and time management as I let things can in the way of my work so I couldn't get as many colour pages done as I liked
Marketing -
could send story to places that do graphic novels/ comic books to see if they would take it on
could go to comic festivals such as elcaf to promote book or find publishers
